Governor Greg Abbott has put a $250 million down payment on new border wall construction in Texas.
"My belief, based upon conversations that I've already had, is a combination of state land as well as volunteer land will yield hundreds of miles to build a wall in the state of Texas," Abbott said.

"Homes are being invaded, neighborhoods are dangerous and people are being threatened on a daily basis with guns by people coming across the border or those working with those coming across the border," Abbott said.
The $250 million will allow Texas to hire a project manager to oversee further construction on the stalled project. The wall will be constructed on land currently owned by the state as well as private land that will be donated, according to Fox News.
The announcement by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to restart construction on the border wall comes after the state declared a state of emergency due to the massive influx of migrants into the state.
The Trump administration built more than 400 miles of border wall along the US-Mexico border before the Biden administration diverted those funds and halted construction of the project.
