To get a sense of how upside down things have become in Canada, consider two recent moves by the Liberal government.
In what they claimed was a move related to the CCP coronavirus, the federal government is releasing criminals from prison, letting them just walk out among law-abiding Canadians.
Among those being released are people who participated in shootings, violent assaults, and in one case, included a man who shot a bullet through his ex-girlfriend's apartment.
Meanwhile, the government has instituted a sweeping gun ban, which will result in the criminalization of many law-abiding Canadian gun owners.
In short, the government is rewarding those who violate the law, and punishing those who have followed the law.
This is a deeply disturbing moment, and not just because the Liberals are exploiting a tragedy and a crisis-distracted population to do it.
We all know that the source of gun crime is gangs, and illegal weapon smugglers.
Yet, the Liberals refuse to take action against actual law-breakers, instead targeting Canada’s law-abiding gun owners.
What this means is that their move isn’t about safety, it’s about control.
It’s about exerting control over a group of Canadians that generally don’t vote Liberal, don’t tend to live in Liberal areas, and disagree with the government on many issues.
It’s about demonizing and criminalizing people who don’t bow down to the Liberal worldview, and distracting Canadians by focusing attention away from the actual source of crime and danger.
And let’s consider something else, the issue of "stigma."
You remember how the Liberals were so afraid of "stigmatizing" people from virus-infected regions as the Coronavirus spread, even though "stigmatizing" people who could spread a virus is a basic human reaction and was common-sense–as the government tacitly admitted by shutting borders later on.
Yet, when it comes to law-abiding gun owners, the Liberals are purposely creating a stigma around them, seeking to pin the blame for crime and violence on those who are not actually to blame for it.
So, when the Liberals claim to care about "stigma," we know it’s total BS.
They have no problem demonizing people, so long as they think there aren’t votes to be gained among those they are attacking.
We are now going to see the government escalate their rhetoric and demonization of law-abiding gun owners, resulting in a more divided and angry country, the empowerment of criminals, an assault on freedom, and a massive waste of resources that could have gone towards strengthening our border and police forces.
All law-abiding Canadians will lose because of this, while gangs and criminals marvel at their good fortune.
