Independent MPP Randy Hillier (Lanark—Frontenac—Kingston) has been a staunch opponent of COVID-19 lockdowns since they began.
"It is so self evident, it is as clear as an uncloudy day, our response to COVID is far more enduring and far more harmful than the virus itself, and all the evidence and the facts are there. The people are not wanting to see the facts," Hillier told The Post Millennial.
MPP Roman Baber was thrown out of caucus today by Doug Ford after he wrote a letter asking the Premier to reconsider the lockdowns. He now joins 3 other MPP's (including Randy Hillier) that have been kicked from the PC caucus in just the last two years.
I was removed from the @OntarioPCParty caucus. It's a regretful decision since many colleagues agree with me, incl @fordnation in large part. I don't regret speaking out for millions of lives & livelihoods decimated by Public Health, I serve the public. 1/2 #onpoli. pic.twitter.com/2qwJvTWHym

When asked about today's news about Baber, Hillier told The Post Millennial:
"What Roman did: I'm very proud of him for doing that. I know that there are a lot more people in caucus that feel the same way, who look at the evidence, at the facts, and come to a very different conclusion than these nihilists at public health."
When asked if he had a message to the rest of the Progressive Conservative caucus Hillier said:
"We can't live a lie as individuals and we can't live a lie as public figures, our constituents deserve more than us living a lie. I know it's sometimes hard to speak outside of the herd but that's why we get elected, we're supposed to be leaders, not followers. Leadership sometimes comes with some bruises."
Hillier says he expects that more of his former colleagues will come out against the Ontario government's lockdowns.
