The Department of Justice is reportedly in the middle of an investigation into Blue Star Strategies and the Democrat lobbying firm's connections with Burisma, a natural gas company in the Ukraine that's tied to Hunter Biden.

At issue is the fact that Hunter Biden was sitting on Burisma's board at the same time Burisma was an active client of Blue Star Strategies. This has prompted the DOJ to investigate potential illegal lobbying practices.

According to Politico, the investigation is part of a new effort by the DOJ to scrutinize more effectively the dealings of foreign entities with the federal government and to make sure there is no undue lobbying or other measures designed to interfere with American politics. The probe into Blue Star has placed firms and operatives connected to the Democratic Party under the microscope.

"Blue Star Strategies is a Washington lobbying and public affairs firm that also has offices in Brussels, Buenos Aires, Paris and Vienna. Its co-founders, Tramontano and Sally Painter, are well-connected long-time Washington operatives and alums of the Clinton administration," states the article by Politico.

The connection extends beyond high-profile politics. One of the firm's co-founders posted an image on Facebook on Oct. 24, 2019 showing the executive standing arm-in-arm with pop star Nick Jonas and movie star Priyanka Chopra.

Blue Star did not disclose its work for Burisma in any federal lobbying databases as such disclosures would have revealed when the firm started working for Burisma and when it concluded its work. Hunter Biden allegedly also received $400,000 in cash at that time under mysterious circumstances.

In an email released to Citizens United on Thursday via Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) filing, obtained by Fox News, former deputy assistant secretary of state for Europe and Eastern Europe George Kent wrote to numerous Obama administration officials about one meeting he had with Ukrainian prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko in September 2016 about Blue Star Strategies.

Lutsenko told former Obama State Department official George Kent he had been "pitched" by Blue Star Strategies for "access" to "high levels" of the Clinton campaign in the weeks leading up to the 2016 presidential election, according to emails between former Obama State Department officials obtained by Fox News.
