Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul said on Monday that the state of New York is "bursting at the seams" with illegal immigrants and called on the Biden administration to send in the United States military for assistance.

While speaking to MSNBC host Al Sharpton, Gov. Hochul discussed the negative impact that the Biden border crisis is having across the state, specifically New York City.

"The majority of these individuals that are crossing are coming to New York state. We already have over 61,000 [illegal immigrants], over 40,000 housed in New York City," Gov. Hochul said. "They're bursting at the seams and Mayor Adams is doing the very best he can in a difficult situation."

Hochul announced that she has taken $1 billion from the state budget to put towards the crisis, which will help with housing and legal assistance for migrants, and is calling on the Biden administration for federal help.

"I asked the federal government to give us emergency funding," Hochul told Sharpton. "I'm asking for federal installations, like military installations, to help out...a large field and operations so we can put up the tents."

Gov. Hochul explained that the sanctuary state has reached its "breaking point" and can no longer keep up with the mass influx of illegal migrants.

"You're gonna start seeing people living in tents — not just on the border, but on the streets of New York and across the state because we have reached a breaking point," Hochul said to the MSNBC host.

In 2021, when the United States started seeing the effects of the illegal immigration crisis at the US/Mexico border, Gov. Hochul slammed US Border Patrol and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Antony Mayorkas for their alleged "mistreatment of migrants" and declared New York a sanctuary state.

"Immigrants are always welcome here," Gov. Hochul said in a Tweet.

Since that declaration, New York City has declared a state of emergency and requested more than $1 billion in federal aid in October to assist with the mass influx of migrants.

Mayor Adams has been transporting illegal immigrants to Orange County and Rockland County in Upstate New York, specifically the city of Newburgh which had hotels evict homeless veterans earlier this week to make room for the aliens following the expiration of Title 42.

In response, both counties have declared a state of emergency, and judges have placed temporary restraining orders on hotels, preventing them from accepting and housing migrants.
