"Hypocrisy at its finest," said one Twitter user.

Liberal MP Seamus O'Regan was seen campaigning on Saturday, despite Justin Trudeau imploring Canadians to stay home. The cabinet minister tweeted, "I knocked on some of my first doors with Tom Osborne."

The photo, along with several others of O'Regan's door-knocking efforts, have drawn reaction online with many pointing out the hypocrisy of door knocking during a pandemic, as well as the speculation of an early election.

"Hypocrisy at its finest," said one Twitter user. "His profile picture says stay at home Different rules for government is really proving to be true."

O'Regan's profile picture on Facebook would go on to be updated, using the same photo with the notable absence of the #StayHome/#ResteChezToi banner.

Speculation of a spring election is further validated by the picture. Elections during COVID have proven to be good for the governing party in Canadian Provinces. In New Brunswick, The Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick, led by Blaine Higgs, won a majority government. In British Columbia, the BC NDP also won a sizeable majority as a result of an election during the pandemic.

It remains to be seen whether Trudeau will call an election and whether O'Regan will be reprimanded for campaigning during this time.
