'Look at him!': Noel Gallagher says Sam Smith is a 'f*cking idiot'

"Music has become quite fractured and chart music is dominated by pop. Pop music is alright if the pop stars are cool. Sadly the stars of today are f***ing idiots." Gallagher then specified that he was talking about Sam Smith.

Oasis legend Noel Gallagher identified pop singer Sam Smith as being a "f*cking idiot" during an interview where he discussed the "current state" of the music industry.

Smith, 30, began using "they/them" pronouns in 2019 when he announced, “I’ve decided to embrace myself for who I am, inside and out,” Smith explained in an emotional Instagram post at the time.

“I’m so excited and privileged to be surrounded by people that support me in this decision but I’ve been very nervous about announcing this because I care too much about what people think but f**k it!" He said.

“I understand there will be many mistakes and misgendering but all I ask is you please please try. I hope you can see me like I see myself now," Smith went on.

Gallagher said, "Music has become quite fractured and chart music is dominated by pop. Pop music is alright if the pop stars are cool. Sadly the stars of today are f*cking idiots." Gallagher then specified that he was talking about Sam Smith.

When asked why Smith was considered uncool, Gallagher said, “Look at him!”

Smith has said that his decision to use they/them pronouns has led to some difficulty. Smith told Zane Lowe: "I think all the only negatives in the struggle have been in my public life and my job. And just the amount of hate and s****ness that came my way was just exhausting.

“It was in the f****** news. Someone spat at me in the street. It's crazy. What I find hard about it is it's like, if that's happening to me and I'm famous, I'm a pop star, can you imagine what other kids, like queer kids are feeling?" Smith said.

“And it's just so sad that we're in 2023 and it's still happening. It's exhausting and especially in England.”

“So we've got two sides, really. My personal life and then my public life. And in my personal life, there's not one negative.”
