On Jan. 29, Moderna advised the Canadian government that they would only be able to fulfill 78 percent of Canada's order for vaccines for early February.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has issued the appropriate warnings to local and provincial authorities that their timetables for vaccination will have to be adjusted.

According to Global News, Moderna is expected to come up short for the whole month of February, although "Moderna cannot confirm allocations for that week yet," said a statement by Major General Dany Fortin, who is in charge of the vaccine rollout.

Eric Morrissette, a spokesperson for Health Canada, said that the "decision was taken to remove the forecasted allocations from our webpage until final shipment details are confirmed by the manufacturer," in light of the latest news by Moderna.

"Changes in supply may occur and are difficult to forecast as they are affected by a manufacturer’s production capacities and distribution outside of Canada."

The Trudeau government is also dealing with delays on the part of Pfizer, the other company currently supplying Canada with vaccines.

Trudeau himself, however, remains confident that Canada will be able to get back on schedule with its program, despite these setbacks, and that the country is still “on track to receiving the six million doses promised by the end of March. And we will have all Canadians vaccinated by September — if they want one."
