"We are going to work together with a sense of urgency to hold violent criminals accountable.”
The DEA stated that agents disrupted an “invite-only party” in Adams County, just outside Denver, according to the New York Post. The operation resulted in the seizure of cash, weapons, and drugs, including Tusi or "pink cocaine," which the gang is heavily involved in distributing across the US.
Around 50 members of Tren de Aragua were arrested in this operation, part of the Trump administration's ongoing efforts to target illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds who may pose a danger to public safety.
DEA Acting Administrator Derek Maltz said, “We want the country to know that we will all support the president’s priority to round up the most dangerous illegal criminals. The president and the DOJ leaders have made it clear that we are going to work together with a sense of urgency to hold violent criminals accountable.”
Throughout the nation, other arrests have been taking place. In a post from the White House on Sunday, the Trump administration touted arrests that it said ranged from “child rapists to suspected ISIS terrorists.”
The operation to start the deportation plan has been dubbed “Return to Sender,” which has been taking place across multiple cities. The objective is to focus on those illegal immigrants that have come to the United States and pose a threat to the public.
Over the last few days, over 600 illegal immigrants in sanctuary cities have been arrested from coast to coast. Operations took place in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Seattle, all cities that have usually shielded illegal immigrants from deportation.
In Chicago, where Border Czar Tom Homan made an appearance, a statement from ICE read, “US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, along with federal partners, including the FBI, ATF, DEA, CBP and the US Marshals Service, began conducting targeted operations today in Chicago to enforce US immigration law and preserve public safety and national security by keeping potentially dangerous criminal aliens out of our communities.”
The operations are all part of fulfilling Trump's promise made on the campaign trail to get a handle on illegal immigration and crime that arises from those coming into the US illegally.
