Soros-backed candidate smears San Diego DA she lost to as 'alt-right'

"It has always been both bewildering and maddening to me that San Diego's DA gets to pose as a moderate while peddling alt-right propaganda and harming our communities with zero pushback/accountability. Shameful!" Jones-Wright wrote.

Failed progressive candidate Geneviéve Jones-Wright, who ran for San Diego County District Attorney in 2018 and lost to current prosecutor Summer Stephan, is now smearing her former opponent as "alt-right."

"It has always been both bewildering and maddening to me that San Diego's DA gets to pose as a moderate while peddling alt-right propaganda and harming our communities with zero pushback/accountability. Shameful!" Jones-Wright wrote on Twitter, responding to an article from Daily Beast writer Kelly Weill.

The article blasts Stephan for having "a history of obsessing about the anti-fascist movement." It references her latest charges brought against Antifa members that brawled with Proud Boy members on Jan. 9.

It criticizes the conspiracy charges brought against those that were arrested and charged in connection to the day. Many of those arrested were charged with felony conspiracy, in addition to other charges.

"Those conspiracy charges rely on several misconceptions about the anti-fascist movement, experts say. It doesn’t help that Stephan has previously promoted some of those misconceptions on the campaign trail," the Daily Beast wrote.

It also references a website paid for by Stephan's campaign slamming funding that Jones-Wright received from billionaire George Soros. Soros dropped a staggering $1.5 million into a PAC that supported Jones-Wright, though the California Globe reported that the funding was pulled less than a month later.

"In 2018, while running against progressive challenger Geneviéve Jones-Wright, Stephan's campaign paid for a website that accused billionaire philanthropist Soros of supporting Jones-Wright because he 'backs anti-law enforcement candidates over experienced prosecutors, trying to tip the balance to the criminals,'" wrote the Daily Beast. The article questioned Stephan's website, suggesting that she is antisemitic, because Soros is of Jewish descent.

In an overhaul of the criminal justice system, Soros, a Democrat megadonor, has been revealed to have backed a number of progressive district attorneys across the country in cities where crime rates, especially homicides, are skyrocketing.

Jones-Wright would have been yet another one put into place with backing from Soros, if she had been elected to the chief prosecutor position.

Stephan's website outlined a number of progressive policies and stances that Jones-Wright had or would have put into place.

Jones-Wright reportedly said in a candidate forum that California "should be closing a prison a year," adding that "by closing prisons, we will not have to incarcerate people."
