The city of Gaylord in northern Michigan was the scene of a terrifying tornado on Friday night, which left two people dead, 40 injured, and caused extensive property damage.
The tornado's ultra-high winds ripped through the heart of town before continuing on through Michigan's heavily-forested wilderness.
According to the Daily Wire, Michigan's Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) "declared a state of emergency for Otsego County, where the tornado tore through the city of Gaylord, ripping off roofs and flipping cars."
In the wake of the deadly tornado, Whitmer took to Twitter and committed to rebuilding Gaylord.
"My heart goes out to the families and small businesses impacted by the tornado and severe weather in Gaylord. To the entire Gaylord community—Michigan is with you. We will do what it takes to rebuild."
