"Do not discount, no matter how far fetched it may seem, a hot war with Russia. Yes, that is a lunatic idea," Carlson said.

During Tuesday night's airing of Tucker Carlson Tonight, the show's namesake blasted President Joe Biden for risking a "hot war" with Russia over a dispute about Ukraine potentially joining NATO.

"Here's something all of us need to begin to internalize. Just because something seems far fetched or it seems crazy, or it seems totally destructive to core American interests, doesn't mean the US government won't do it. That's the main lesson at the moment we're living in," Carlson began.

"So with that in mind, do not discount, no matter how far fetched it may seem, a hot war with Russia. Yes, that is a lunatic idea," he continued.

Carlson went on to state that the US has nothing to gain with a military confrontation with Russia, but "there's very much we could lose, including of course, many thousands of American lives."

"But that doesn't mean Joe Biden won't do it. Biden is unpopular, he's incompetent, and he's desperate. But more than anything, Joe Biden is weak. He is a pawn of his staff and the hard ideologues who surround him," said Carlson, who noted that many of Biden's closest aides are pushing the US to get involved in the conflict militarily.

Carlson outlined the core of the conflict between the two countries, boiling it down to the question of Ukraine potentially joining NATO.

"NATO was the post war military alliance created in 1949 to keep the Soviets from invading Western Europe and it worked pretty well for about 40 years. But the Soviet Union has not existed in more than three decades, it's part of history now. And yet NATO very much lives on better funded than ever. It is an army without a purpose," Carlson explained.

"So at this point, NATO exists primarily to torment Vladimir Putin, who whatever has many faults, has no intention of invading Western Europe," he continued. "But Putin does not want Belgium, he just wants to keep his western border secure. That's why he doesn't want Ukraine to join NATO."

To put it in perspective, Carlson placed the conflict in terms of the US relations with Canada and Mexico.

"Imagine how we would feel if Mexico and Canada became satellites of China. We wouldn't like that at all," said Carlson.

"A NATO takeover of Ukraine would compromise Russia's access to its Sebastopol naval base, as the site of the Russian Black Sea Fleet and one of the country's only connections to international waters," said Carlson.

"In the words of Russia scholar Richard Sakwa, if Russia lost the Sevastopol naval base, it would be 'the biggest military geopolitical defeat of Russia in the last 1000 years.' So for Vladimir Putin that's unacceptable, it's a disaster," Carlson continued. "He cannot let it happen. He will not let it happen."

Questioning the US involvement in the case, Carlson said we would be "driving Russia, and we are in fact, deeper into the arms of the government of China."

"So why are we doing this? Why is the US government pushing Ukraine to join NATO? Well, God knows why. But we are doing this both parties are doing this," Carlson added.

Following a clip he played of Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in which he stated that the US would act if Russia violates Ukraine's "sovereignty, it's independence, it's territorial integrity," Carlson questioned why there was such stress placed on this border across the world, and not the US/Mexico border.

"Because if there's one thing the Biden White House cares about, it's secure borders, at least in Eastern Europe where borders are not racist. Ukraine's borders must be defended. It would be immoral to open those borders to the world and allow say tens of thousands of unemployed Haitians to pour across. We can't allow that," said Carlson. "In fact, we will send American troops to Ukraine to prevent that."

"Open borders are only permitted in Texas, Arizona and California and anywhere else that potential Democratic voters might arrive uninvited from the third world, but Ukraine, no. Ukraine has a God given right to territorial integrity, and American soldiers will die to defend that territorial integrity. That's our official position as a country," he continued.

Following a video call between President Joe Biden and President Vladimir Putin, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated on Tuesday that the Biden administration is preparing for "all contingencies" regarding Russia, as tensions between the country and Ukraine grow.

"As we pursue diplomatic channels, we will also prepare for all contingencies just as we have been doing for weeks now," said Sullivan.

Sullivan stated that Biden told the Russian president that America supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He told President Putin directly that if Russia further invades Ukraine, the United States and our European allies would respond with strong economic measures," said Sullivan.

A White House statement following the closed meeting stated that the president voted these concerns to Putin, making his stance clear that actions would be taken if Russia choses to invade Ukraine.

"President Biden voiced the deep concerns of the United States and our European Allies about Russia's escalation of forces surrounding Ukraine and made clear that the US and our Allies would respond with strong economic and other measures in the event of military escalation. President Biden reiterated his support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and called for de-escalation and a return to diplomacy," said the White House.
