The Brantford Police Service announced that two individuals have been arrested in connection with the theft of over $630,000 CAD of Wayne Gretzky memorabilia.

The theft took place at the Brantford home of the Gretzky family. The Brantford Police Service found that the individual had sold the items to collectors across Canada, which prompted the involvement of the OPP and RCMP.

The suspect was located following a three-month investigation.

"On December 8, 2020 officers with the Brantford Police Service, OPP and RCMP, with assistance from the Halton Regional Police Service, executed search warrants at five homes across Ontario and Alberta," the press release reads.

Items were successfully recovered, including "multiple game used sticks, hockey gloves, pants, jerseys and a Player-of-the-Year award."

"As a result of the search warrants executed on December 8, 2020, two individuals were arrested and charged under the Criminal Code. A 58 year-old-male from Oakville is charged with Theft Over $5,000 and Possession Over $5,000 and a 58 year-old female from Brockville is charged with Fraud Over $5,000 and Breach of Trust," the statement concludes.
