Conservative talk show icon Rush Limbaugh passed away on Wednesday, being announced by Kathryn Limbaugh at the beginning of Rush's regular radio broadcast—and it took absolutely no time at all for smug Twitter bluechecks to celebrate the man's death.

Limbaugh, who said before Christmas that he thought he would not have made it that long, had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer lung cancer in January 2020. This, of course, was celebrated by the likes of progressive journalists, game designers, and others.

"Rush Limbaugh was a coward and white supremacist," wrote Charlotte Clymer of Catholics for Choice. "He aggressively and cynically exploited divisions in our country by weaponizing hatred and bigotry for his own personal gain."

Video game writer and self-described stand-up comedian Mike Drucker wrote, "It's easy to make fun of Rush Limbaugh right now, but it's important to remember that he also brought a lot of people a lot of joy by dying."

Television producer Andrew Kimmel, upon news of Limbaugh's passing, wrote "[I] Hope he can handle the heat."

Parkland shooting survivor Cameron Kasky wrote "Rush Limbaugh has passed on, but worry not- his memory lives on through bigots everywhere."

Shortly after, "Rest in Piss" started trending "because many of them truly want us dead for daring to have different opinions than them," wrote director and producer Robby Starbuck.

"Rush Limbaugh spent decades advancing his career by opportunistically spreading vicious lies that got a lot of bad people elected, whose corrupt policies in turn got a lot of Americans killed. Now he's dead. So be it. There's a reason "Rest in Piss" is trending right now," wrote the Palmer Report.

Other outlets, such as The Huffington Post, wrote that Limbaugh was the "bigoted king of talk radio," calling him responsible for "cruel bigotries, lies and conspiracy theories for over three decades."
