A Virginia man is facing a $600 Uber bill after being stuck in the rideshare for over nine hours during a winter storm.

According to WTOP-FM, Andrew Peters of Richmond was travelling via Uber when he was caught in a winter storm traffic jam that caused hours of delay.

"We hopped right on the highway, and literally the second we got on there we were just stuck," Peters told Fox.

Peters says that at first, he only had to pay a $200 bill, but that Uber added another $400 to his final cost.

"That’s a lot of money," Peters told Fox. "I was a little scared. I was like oh my gosh, that’s crazy."

Peters was eventually refunded his entire bill.

"We have refunded Mr. Peters after this terrible ordeal and are so glad that he and his Uber driver got home safely," a statement from Uber to the Associated Press said.
