Florida Governor Ron DeSantis spoke to Sean Hannity on Wednesday night and took President Joe Biden to task for having attacked GOP governors who oppose mask mandates as opposed to dealing with the chaotic disaster that is the American withdrawal from Afghanistan.

DeSantis said that Biden "is obsessed with having the government force kindergarteners to wear masks all day in school. In Florida we believe that that's the parents' decision."

"Joe Biden thinks the federal government should come in and overrule the parents and force these young kids to wear these masks," DeSantis said. "You got to wonder, where are your priorities that you're so obsessed with this issue, and you're so obsessed with taking away parents' rights, but you're letting Afghanistan burn, our border burn, and so many other things in our country fall to pieces."

DeSantis, who is a veteran with an extensive military background, gave his assessment of the current situation in Afghanistan, the fall of Kabul, and President Biden's having returned to vacation at Camp David as soon as he gave a speech on Monday. Biden took no questions after the speech, shuffling away from reporters and boarding a waiting helicopter.

"He's asleep at the switch," DeSantis said, saying the mission was necessary in Afghanistan after September 11, 2021, but that the US should not have engaged in nation-building or trying to impose democracy in Afghanistan.

DeSantis said that enemies of the US are taking note of our failures, and will use that their advantage in any coming conflict or crisis. He said they "are taking the measure of Joe Biden, and see that this is not somebody who is capable of leading."

"I think we're in for a rocky three and a half years as long as he's president," DeSantis said.

Hannity said the current situation in Afghanistan would be far different if Trump were still in office.
