Canada's Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam spoke to Santa Claus over Zoom to discuss what health protocols would be taken come Christmas, wherein Santa will visit an estimated 537 million separate houses across the world, leading to some worry that Santa would act as a super spreader of COVID-19.

Dr. Tam officially announced that Santa would be an essential worker in Canada, and is "cleared" to work on Christmas Eve.

"I know some of you are worried about me but I am well, in fact I'm feeling great. Mrs. Claus and I have been self isolating, in fact, we've been doing it for years, ho ho ho," said Santa.

Concerns arose over Santa's health and ability to work during the pandemic. It is well known that COVID-19 impacts the elderly the hardest, especially those over 80 years of age. According to his website, Santa Claus is 1,750 years old.
