"So you're wrong on these really, really big issues that impacted millions of people. And yet you're still out there parroting stuff," DeSantis said.

Florida Republican Governor Ron Desantis joined Fox News host Laura Ingraham Tuesday night to discuss his thoughts on the latest predictions that there will be a "summer surge" of COVID-19.

The predictions Ingraham was referring to were made by Dr. Peter Hotez during a podcast segment with Lisa Gray last week. Hotez said that travel over the summer holidays could pose a problem in terms of a pandemic resurgence. Hotez said "you have to assume that Mother Nature is telling us this is going to happen again."

"They just can't let the pandemic go. At some point, they're going to have to break the addiction," Ingraham said to DeSantis.

"Well, you know, some of these people get put out there all the time when they've been dead wrong over the last year," DeSantis replied.

"For example, a lot of these experts criticized Florida for getting our kids back into school in August," DeSantis explained. "They said, oh, this'll be two, three weeks. Everyone's going to get sick. All the schools are going to have to shut down again. And that just never happened."

The popular governor was the first in the US to lift all COVID-19 restrictions. "I think the schools are probably one of the places that had the fewest amount of infections out of anywhere else in our society," DeSantis continued. "So you're wrong on these really, really big issues that impacted millions of people. And yet you're still out there parroting stuff."

"I think that, at the end of the day, we're happy that we had the kids in school. We're happy that people have been able to work in Florida, and we're happy that our businesses have been open," DeSantis told Ingraham.
