During a speech on Friday, President Biden talked about the need for "action" on the part of the government, both regarding his "infrastructure" bill and the ongoing pandemic.

Says Biden in the above video:

"I'm gonna begin meeting with Democrats and Republicans about this plan."

"They all have their ideas about what it will take, what they like and what they don't like. That's a good thing. That's the American way."

Biden goes on to insist that, while the plan may change, he considers government intervention on an unprecedented scale to be absolutely necessary:

"Debate is welcome. Compromise is inevitable. Changes in my plan are certain. But inaction is not an option."

Biden then talks about what he calls widespread support for his plan, and continues:

"Congress should debate my plan, change it and offer alternatives, if they think that's what they have to do. But Congress should act."

Biden then turns to the subject of the coronavirus, saying:

"As fast as we're moving .... we're not even halfway done yet."

"Too many Americans are acting as if this fight is over. It is not."

Biden then refers to how he had previously said that it was possible to have a "more normal July 4," but then reminds the public that "this is still April, not July. We aren't there yet," opined Biden, despite the fact that COVID numbers are way down in states that have lifted restrictions.

Social media users were not exactly overwhelmed by Biden's speech, nor particularly supportive of his plans. Here is one example:

"He is only asking the Americans that support it .. He not interested in hearing from anyone who does not support it ."

Another social media user pulled absolutely no punches in showing their disdain:

"I don’t know who this fool has been asking, then again neither does he."
