During a White House press briefing on Thursday, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that the "President has done the work to deal with what we're seeing at the border since day one," a statement that comes as Biden's border crisis has seen 2,378,944 encounters with illegal immigrants in the 2022 fiscal year and 1,659,206 In 2021 while a record-high number of illegal immigrants surge into the United States monthly.

Jean-Pierre said, "What Americans should know is that the President put forth an immigration reform policy to make sure that we're dealing with a broken system, to make sure that we're able to protect dreamers to make sure that we deal with the backlog that we're seeing with asylum seekers to fix the gutted system that was that has been around for some time, but certainly was guided by the last administration."

When Joe Biden took office in 2021 he significantly loosened restrictions along the southern border. HHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and the Biden administration repeatedly said publicly that children would be admitted along with those seeking asylum as an effort to distinguish themselves from the Trump Administration

It is a federal misdemeanor to illegally cross into the United States and a felony if it's done twice.

Biden has attempted to end Trump's previous "remain in Mexico" policy, or Title 42, multiple times, which kept illegal immigrants in Mexico as they awaited status updates on their asylum claims instead of the US. Title 42 is set to expire this month.

As Fox reported, in 2022 there were roughly 599,000 "gotaways" at the border or illegal aliens who fled into the interior US after being detained and not forced to remain in Mexico.

At the end of December, Title 42 will expire, which gave authorities the ability to expel illegal crossers over health concerns, as it was created during the Covid pandemic. Upon its removal even more are expected to enter into the United States illegally.

Jean-Pierre said efforts by the GOP to deal with the border crisis were "stunts."

In April, Texas Governor Greg Abbott contemplated on a way to manage and relocate the masses of migrants flooding into Texas. He promised to bus border crossers to blue states whose leadership supported open borders. By October, 19,000 illegal immigrants had arrived in NYC, bussed not only by Abbott, but from states like Arizona and by the Biden administration.

As these illegal immigrants have been bussed to NYC, NYC Mayor Eric Adams has had to declare a state of emergency due to leadership's inability to house and take care of the individuals.
