A woman from British Columbia who spent a few nights in jail after being arrested, sent a home-made thank you note to the jail after her release, offering the detention centre a 4.5 star review, CTV News reports.
"I was nervous about staying with you guys during my trip to the island," the letter reads, "but I wanted to let you know that I appreciated how helpful and kind everyone was."
The lady specifically thanked the "jailors who do a tough job and are often under appreciated by the people in their care."
The card was sent after the woman was released, as police do not offer supplies to craft such letters in jail.
Police did not identify who the woman was or what she was arrested for, only confirming that she was held for a few days in a Langford jail. Police said that they "never had any issues with this prisoner" while she was in their custody.
Police did note that they were thankful for the card, further stating that they have never received such a letter before.
"We were very impressed and happy with our review," said Langford police spokeswoman Const. Nancy Saggar. "The point here is that we do treat everybody with respect. Just because you’re in jail, you still have your rights and we’re going to respect that."
Saggar further noted that the card displayed "genuine amount of effort, which was really kind."
"Thank you for [your] care and kindness while I was in your custody," the woman finished, leaving a smiley face.
