Pierre Poilievre calls for deportation of violent visa holders, temporary residents in Canada

“That doesn’t mean it was without difficulty. We had all hoped we had left the ugly authoritarian socialist ideologies of fascism and communism behind, but they came roaring back with extreme and radical movements,” Poilievre stated.

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre expressed his firm stance against imported criminal violence on Canadian streets, advocating for the immediate deportation of those responsible.

During a speech Monday afternoon marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Poilievre commended the resilience of the Israeli people, who continue to live on the same land and worship the same God as they did thousands of years ago.

“That doesn’t mean it was without difficulty. We had all hoped we had left the ugly authoritarian socialist ideologies of fascism and communism behind, but they came roaring back with extreme and radical movements,” Poilievre stated.

He pointed to the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel and the subsequent violence on Canadian streets after those attacks.

“New threats emanating from Iran metastasized and exploded back into the forefront on October 7. An unprovoked attack that was deliberately designed to carry out the maximum amount of cruelty against the most innocent people,” Poilievre said.

“October 7 was the biggest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust,” he continued, connecting the attack to a surge in violence and antisemitism within Canada.

“We see on our own streets antisemitism guided by obscene woke ideologies that have led to an explosion of hate crimes," Poilievre noted.

He pointed to alarming statistics, stating, "Hate crimes were up 100% in Canada before October 7. Now, they’re up 251%, with Jews being the principal victims of those crimes."

Poilievre also called for decisive action to counter the rise in violence and hate, saying: “We must not just condemn these things — we must take action against them. We must deport from our country any temporary resident that is here on a permit or a visa that is carrying out violence or hate crimes on our soil.”

Over 21,000 illegal immigrants were intercepted crossing into the United States from Canada during the first ten months of 2024, according to figures released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

A significant portion of these crossings—approximately 18,000—occurred in the "Swanton Sector," a border region where Ontario and Quebec converge with New York State, Vermont, and New Hampshire. This area has become a hotspot for illegal crossings, drawing increased attention from both U.S. and Canadian authorities.

In response to the rise in illegal border activity and threats from President-elect Donald Trump of imposing tariffs, the Trudeau government pledged to introduce unspecified measures to strengthen the enforcement of Canada’s immigration laws, though nothing productive or concrete has been announced yet.
