1 dead, 5 injured including 2 children after suspects open fire in DC residential neighborhood

A 12-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A person was killed and five others, including two children, were injured Wednesday after two suspects opened fire in a Washington, DC residential neighborhood.

According to Metropolitan Police, the shooting occurred just after 6 pm ET on the 1100 block of 21st Street NE, in the Carver Langston neighborhood in Northeast DC.

Chief Pamela Smith told reporters that the suspects exited a vehicle and "began shooting into the crowd" that was outside.

Smith said that one man was killed in the shooting while two men and one woman were transferred to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 12-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy were also sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are looking for a light blue Toyota sedan with no front tags, dark tints, black rims, and "possibly occupied with two shooters inside."
