On Wednesday, Paramount announced that Jon Stewart will be making a return to The Daily Show beginning February 12.

While Stewart will only be reclaiming his position as host on Mondays during the 2024 election cycle, he will serve as executive producer of the show until the end of 2025.

According to Axios, Monday episodes tend to garner the most views, since many look to hosts to catch them up on everything that happened over the weekend.

Stewart hosted the show from 1999 to 2015 before passing the duties on to Trevor Noah, who subsequently left in 2022. Since then, a permanent host has yet to be found.

The move comes as The Daily Show, and other similar late-night programs, struggle to attract viewers in a world increasingly dominated by streaming services.

Upon leaving the show, Stewart himself jumped into the streaming media ecosystem, launching a show on Apple TV+, however it was cancelled in 2023 over "creative differences."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
