Disney actress Rachel Zegler has done an about face regarding the upcoming live action Snow White. Zegler, who plays the title character, had nothing but vitriol for the role, saying that the story would be about power not love.

But after the Daily Wire announced their own live action Snow White, and Disney put a hold on the release date in order to modify the film due to anti-woke backlash, Zegler has become a proponent of the traditional story line.

In an interview with Variety, Zegler accepted praise for "being an amazing Latina woman as Snow White" who is "opening so many doors" for her community. She spoke about the pressure she feels in attempting to encapsulate the "first one having to bring to life the first one."

"This is an iconic thing that people really care about," she said of the film, "I don't want to mess this up for anybody."

In previous comments about the film, Zegler said the new version has a "modern edge," going on to say "I just mean that it's no longer 1937. And we absolutely wrote a Snow White that's not going to be shaped by the prince, and she's not going to be dreaming about true love, she's going to be dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be, and the leader that her late father told her that she could be if she were fearless, fair, brave, and true."

"And so it's just a really incredible story," Zegler went on, "for, I think, young people everywhere to see themselves in."

In the latest Variety interview, she acknowledged that classic movies are "very good at what they do" and praised Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as "a monumental moment in film history." She also spoke about the backlash against her earlier comments, saying "I feel so thankful for those moments because it started to make me feel like solid Teflon."

"That nothing can hurt anymore because they've said the worst that can be said. You just say, 'Thank you so much for this. I have a lot of love in my life, and I'm very thankful.' We get to do our work and have that speak for itself instead," she said.

Zegler also wishes to see more kindness from fans.

Disney announced plans for a live action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, but called it just Snow White. The dwarfs were also removed and replaced by "companions." The handsome prince was apparently turned into something of a "friend." Zegler championed all of this. Fans pushed back, criticing her for hating the heroine she was cast to play.

Disney then pushed back the release date of the film and new stills came out showing Zegler surrounded by drawfs, the "companions" no where to be found.
