The Biden regime is directing the US Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) that pregnant migrant children should be sheltered in states that allow abortions. This is due to the US Supreme Court's decision earlier this year to return abortion rights to the states.
The ORR said that girls who are sheltered in states that restrict abortion, such as Texas, should be relocated to other states that allow abortion.
ORR is the organization that shelters minors who enter the US illegally.
"About one-third of the 123,000 unaccompanied migrant children who were taken into US custody in the fiscal year 2021 were female, according to ORR data. The data does not identify how many of them were pregnant," Reuters writes.
Last year, the Biden regime said that pregnant unaccompanied minors should not be sheltered in Texas following the state's passing of its abortion restrictions. The new directive makes the guidance the official policy of the agency.
The ORR previously prohibited staff from greenlighting abortions unless given permission from the agency's director, under the Trump administration. In 2019, a US appeals court said that the policy was unconstitutional.
