On Friday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was seen making an appearance at Jordan Neely’s funeral, the homeless man who died after being placed in a chokehold by former Marine Daniel Penny after Neely threatened passengers on a New York City subway car.

Ocasio-Cortez was seen posing for photographs with members of the public from her security-protected SUV. When asked by a member of the public what she thought of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis calling Penny a Good Samaritan, Ocasio-Cortez responded, "He should read a Bible."

Ocasio-Cortez was one of several prominent Democrat figures to attend the funeral, including Reverand Al Sharpton, New York City public advocate Jumaane Williams, and Lt. Gpv. Antonio Delgado, according to the Daily Mail.

Following the incident earlier this month, Ocasio-Cortez claimed that Neely was "murdered," expressing anger over the lack of charges at the time against Penny.

"But bc Jordan was houseless and crying for food in a time when the city is raising rents and stripping services to militarize itself while many in power demonize the poor, the murderer gets protected w/ passive headlines + no charges," Ocasio-Cortez wrote. "It’s disgusting."

A witness has come forth describing the scene that day, stating that Neely, who has been arrested over 40 times, said, "I don’t care if I have to kill an F, I will. I’ll go to jail, I’ll take a bullet."

It wasn’t until after Neely started threatening passengers that Penny stepped in, the witness said, with Penny taking Neely down to the ground in a chokehold. The former Marine then placed Neely in a recovery position to make sure he was okay.

Penny has since been charged with manslaughter, and a GiveSendGo fundraiser has received over $2 million in donations.
