Rivera furiously called Dan Bongino a "son of a b*tch" and remarked that he is "nothing but a punk."
Longtime Fox News correspondent Geraldo Rivera is now officially leaving The Five after numerous disputes between himself and other co-hosts such as Greg Gutfeld and Jesse Watters.
"Morning, it’s official, I’m off @TheFive. My last scheduled show appearances are Thursday and Friday June 29th and 30th." Rivera posted on Twitter Wednesday. "It’s been a great run and I appreciate having had the opportunity. Being odd man out isn’t always easy."
Rivera added that he will remain a Correspondent at Large, at least for now.
The liberal co-host has been part of a rotation that has gone on since January 2022, along with former Rep. Harold Ford and commentator Jessica Tarlov, according to the Daily Mail.
Last month, Rivera suddenly announced that several of his scheduled showings for The Five had been canceled. He notably had not been on the network since April 21, the exact day Fox News announced it was parting ways with popular commentator Tucker Carlson.
This announcement of Rivera’s departure from the show comes after clashes with various other Fox hosts, including most recently late-night host Greg Gutfeld.
Rivera went after Carlson on the platform last month following his ousting from Fox News, proclaiming, "I don’t wish ill on anybody, but there is no doubt – as I said at the time - Tucker Carlson’s perverse January 6 conspiracy theory was 'bullsh*t.' Having lost the election President Trump incited an insurrection that sought to undermine our Constitutional process."
Gutfeld fired back, writing, "You’re a class act, Geraldo. A real man of the people."
According to the Daily Mail, a Fox News insider has speculated that Gutfeld may have been involved in making Rivera’s departure a certainty.
Rivera has not only had disagreements with Gutfeld and Carlson; the longtime Fox News contributor has butted heads with Sean Hannity as well as Dan Bongino on more than one occasion.
One instance of this occurred during a past discussion on the riots at the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, when Rivera accused Hannity of purposely "gaslighting" the public about what transpired on that day. Hannity reacted by pointing out that Trump called for his supporters to protest "peacefully and patriotically," while Bongino responded that Rivera is "just making that up."
In a separate and more intense exchange in April 2021, Rivera furiously called Bongino a "son of a b*tch" and remarked that he is "nothing but a punk," after he had suggested the ‘liberal’ co-host was implicitly condoning the US being burned down via Black Lives Matter riots.
Bongino calmly replied, "You wouldn’t tell me that to my face."
During yet another discussion about a month later, the two got into it again. Bongino remarked that Rivera is an "out of control lunatic," to which he answered, "I'm an out of control lunatic? I'm a ten-time Emmy winner."
Geraldo also told Gutfeld that he is "arrogant" as well as an "insulting punk" last year, to which the Fox News late-night host quipped, "What, am I your new Bongino?"
