During a Tuesday night panel with Fox News' Sean Hannity, Dan Bongino and Geraldo Rivera sparred over vaccine mandates. Bongino likened Rivera's rhetoric to those of tyrants. Rivera explained that he believes everyone should be mandated to get be vaccinated against COVID while Bongino said it should be a personal choice.
On the topic of NFL player Aaron Rodgers testing positive for COVID, Rivera said Rodgers "lying" about his vaccination status should be "a crime." Rogers had reportedly said he was immunized against the virus, but he had not been vaccinated.
Although Rivera said that he's a fan of the talented NFL player, the political commentator said Rodgers actions were "selfish" and individuals shouldn't have the right not to disclose their vaccination status.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback tested positive for COVID-19 last week and will miss this week's game. Rodgers has been at the height of media scrutiny since his diagnosis. Critics allege that he misled the public into thinking he was vaccinated.
During a press conference earlier in the year, Rodgers said that he had been "immunized" against COVID-19 when asked if he was vaccinated. That comment led people to think he received the injection but in reality the quarterback had undergone monoclonal antibody therapy.
"Aaron Rodgers doesn't owe anyone an apology," Bongino said. "Whether he chooses to disclose his immunization status isn't anyone's business."
"We're throwing the constitution out for a virus with an over 90 percent survival rate. If that isn't the road to tyranny then I don't know what it is," Bongino continued.
"The constitution is not a suggestion, it's our founding document. You see how it all gets thrown out the window when we go down a slippery slope."
Geraldo Rivera told Hannity and Bongino that there should be "no accommodation" in regards to the vaccine.
"I despise vaccinated people who are smug in their protection who urge unvaccinated people to exercise their freedoms," Rivera said. "You have no rights when it comes to the vaccine."
"That's what tyrants say," Bongino responded.
