NC Dems yank support for candidate who wishes death to MAGA

"I'm so excited! Ready for the MAGAs to die off!!"

"I'm so excited! Ready for the MAGAs to die off!!"

North Carolina Democrats have withdrawn their support for a state House candidate after remarks she made on social media that celebrated violence against MAGA supporters.

The North Carolina House Democratic Caucus said it will no longer support Shelly Headen, who is challenging Republican state Rep. John Blust. In a statement to the North Carolina outlet The Assembly, a spokesperson for the caucus said Headen’s social media posts were “unacceptable and do not reflect the values we expect of our candidates.”

“The North Carolina House Democratic Caucus condemns these comments without qualification and will not support Shelly Headen’s candidacy,” the spokesperson said.

In an interview with the outlet, Headen claimed that she “can’t remember” what she posted but said she has been “very vocal against MAGA” in the past. The controversy stems from multiple alleged posts, including one published after then-Vice President Kamala Harris became the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nominee.

“I’m so excited! Ready for the MAGAs to die off!!” Headen wrote.

In another post, Headen appeared to call for foreign attacks on red states, writing, “I think our only hope is an attack on US Soil … preferably Alabama, Louisiana … where the stupid people live.”

Headen also wrote that America was “beyond peaceful protest” following the 2024 killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

In her comments to The Assembly, Headen compared the sacrifices she has made with those of Jesus Christ.

“I’ve sacrificed myself just like Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross, and Martin Luther King and Abraham Lincoln and all the people that put themselves out there to sacrifice for our country,” Headen said. “If a few angry moments on social media are the end, then so be it. MAGA will keep winning if we continue with not standing up for what’s right.”
