A new poll conducted by Emerson College Polling and The Hill found that Republican incumbent Brian Kemp continues to maintain his lead over Democrat Stacey Abrams in the race for governor of Georgia.

Since polling was last conducted in August, Kemp’s support has grown by 3 percent.

According to the poll, 51 percent of likely Georgia voters said they’d cast their ballots for Kemp, with just 46 percent saying the same for Abrams.

Kemp leads over Abrams not only in support, but when it comes to likeliness of winning, as well. The poll found that 62 percent of respondents expect Kemp to win, up 4 points since August, compared to just 38 percent for Abrams, down 4 points.

In regards to candidate favorability, Kemp once again came out on top. Of those surveyed, 57 percent saw Kemp as somewhat or very favorable, whereas only 49 percent said the same for Abrams.

Abrams was seen as “very unfavorable” by a full 46 percent of voters, compared to 28 percent who felt that way about Kemp.

Demographically speaking, Kemp continues to lead among men, while Abrams is slightly more favored among women. Among black voters, Abrams maintains a sizable lead, with 77 percent support.

Kemp and Abrams went head to head for the first time in 2018, with the former coming out on top with 50.2 percent of the votes.

In the years since,  Abrams has repeatedly called into question the legitimacy of that election, even going so far as to suggest it had been “stolen."

Speaking in London in 2019, Abrams stated that Kemp “got to be the contestant, the referee and the scorekeeper — and shockingly, he won, or at least that’s what he tells us.”

“I know in my heart of hearts, we won,” she added.

The poll also found that Republican Herschel Walker and his Democratic counterpart Raphael Warnock remain neck and neck in the Georgia Senate race, with the latter edging out the former by just 2 percent.

Walker, endorsed by former president Donald Trump, has maintained his approval among men, while Warnock continues to garner support from women and black voters.
