An illegal immigrant has been arrested and charged for the suspected predatory sexual assault of a child under the age of 13 and was arrested on Tuesday evening in Bourbonnais, Illinois.

38-year-old Juan C. Alvizar was arrested in connection to the crime, according to the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office in a press release stated: "Sheriff’s deputies responded to a sexual incident that occurred Tuesday evening in unincorporated Bourbonnais. The details of the investigation subsequently resulted in the arrest of 38-year-old Juan C Alvizar."

Alvizar was staying in the Oak Creek Estates Mobile Home Park in Illinois. Since being arrested, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency placed a detainer on him as he is an illegal immigrant to the US.

“Although we want to make every effort possible to maintain the privacy to the victim in this particular case, I think it’s vitally important to the residents of Kankakee County to understand that this heinous act was completely avoidable based solely on the fact that this offender should not be in the country,” Sheriff Mike Downey said of the case.  “I want to thank all of our deputies and investigators that have spent a great deal of time and effort working on an extremely challenging and disturbing case.”

Alvizar has been incarcerated at Jerome Combs Detention Center for the charges and had a bond hearing on Thursday before the Kankakee County Judge. The case adds to the many criminal cases that have been in the media as of late with the ongoing border crisis under the Biden-Harris administration.
