58% of voters say Trump is doing a better job than Biden: Harvard-Harris poll

A new poll conducted around one month into the Trump administration has found that American voters are overwhelmingly supportive of the steps his administration has taken since entering office, including the deportation of criminal illegal immigrants and eliminating waste in the federal government.

The Harvard-Harris poll found that the number of people who say that the country is heading on the right track has skyrocketed, jumping from 28 percent when the poll was taken in January to 42 percent in February. The number of people who say the country is on the wrong track has dropped from 58 percent to 48 percent.

Overall, 52 percent of Americans approve of the job Trump has done as president so far. 58 percent of American voters also say that Trump is doing a better job than his Democrat predecessor, President Joe Biden. The poll also found that 36 percent of voters say Trump is doing better than expected, while 35 percent said he was doing worse and 29 percent said he was performing "as expected."

In regards to Trump administration policies, 81 percent said they support deporting illegal immigrants who have committed crimes, 76 percent said they support undertaking a wide-ranging effort to cut government waste, 76 percent said they support closing the border and issuing additional border security and deterrence measures, 69 percent supported banning biological males from women’s sports, 68 percent supported the declaration that there are only two genders, 65 percent supported eliminating preferential hiring and government contract awarding based on race, 63 percent supported the freeze on foreign aid,and 61 percent supported placing reciprocal tariffs on other countries.

Voters were also asked about the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk, with 60 percent saying that DOGE is helping make major cuts to government expenditures.

66 percent of American voters said that Democrats should take more of a "wait and see" approach before opposing things the Trump administration does, including 36 percent of Democrats, and 66 percent said that Democrats should join the Trump administration’s mission of cutting government waste, including 43 percent of Democrats.

The poll was conducted between February 19 and 20 of 2,443 registered voters and has a margin of error of 2 percent.
