Anti-communist Lily Tang Williams WINS NH GOP primary for US House

GOP candidate Lily Tang Williams won New Hampshire’s Republican primary for the state’s Second Congressional District, setting up a rematch against incumbent Democrat Rep Maggie Goodlander. The two had previously faced off in 2024, with Goodlander defeating Williams. 

With 85 percent of the vote in as of Wednesday morning, Williams had received 65.3 percent of the vote in the Republican primary. In the Democrat primary, Goodlander had received 81.5 percent of the vote, per Associated Press data.

Williams said in a statement following the primary victory, “This victory belongs to Granite Staters who believe the American Dream is worth fighting for. Now we take that fight straight to Maggie Goodlander.”

She added, “I’ll work for every Granite Stater as an independent voice—not the extremists driving today’s Democrat Party. Maggie Goodlander has had two years in Congress. Now she has to answer for what she has—and hasn’t—accomplished. I’m ready to fight to make New Hampshire affordable again and preserve the American Dream.”

Williams, an outspoken critic of communism, was born in China just before Mao’s Cultural Revolution, and immigrated to the US as an adult. Among her campaign priorities are lowering the cost of living, keeping the border secure, putting America’s interests first over foreign conflicts, protecting Freedom of Speech and the Second Amendment, imposing term limits in Congress, and more. 

Williams had captured 47 percent of the vote in the 2024 election against Goodlander, which a press release said was “closer than any Republican has in more than a decade to flipping NH-02.” 

Goodlander, who is currently serving her first term in the US House, came under fire in November for appearing alongside other Democrat lawmakers in a video that called for military members to “refuse illegal orders” made by Trump. The group of lawmakers was dubbed the “Seditious Six.”
