On Tuesday, police in Portland, Oregon arrested 27-year-old Christopher Luchini in connection with a series of stranger assaults in the city's Central Eastside District.
Luchini, a radical far-left activist with ties to a legal group that defends Antifa members, allegedly slashed at least four people with an edged weapon, three of whom sustained injuries and had to go to the hospital.
According to the Portland Police Bureau, the incidents took place between January 12 and February 7, 2023, in the area of Southeast 10th Avenue and Southeast Belmont Street. Officers have been led to believe that Luchini was "primarily targeting women," and that there were likely more victims that had not yet come forward.
Luchini was arrested while at work at a local grocery store, and a search of his home uncovered evidence that tied him to the assaults in question. He was taken to the Multnomah County Detention Center and charged with three counts of second-degree assault, second-degree attempted assault, and four counts of unlawful use of a weapon.
According to The Post Millennial editor-at-large Andy Ngo, Luchini has connections to the Civil Liberties Defense Center, a legal group that has defended Antifa activists, including Charlie Landeros.
Landeros was killed in Eugene, Oregon in 2019 after he showed up at Cascade Middle School with a loaded gun and fired two shots at a school resource officer following a custody dispute over his daughter. The resource officer, who returned fire and hit Landeros in the head, was cleared of any wrongdoing, much to the dismay of the CLDC and other Antifa activists.
"It is unknown why Charles Landeros chose to use deadly force in this circumstance," Lane County District Attorney Patricia Perlow wrote, "but he clearly had no regard for the lives of the police officers or the students or staff present, including his child."
Luchini was also a member of the Multnomah County Office of Diversity and Equity's Youth Commission, where he sought to "work on Transit Justice and Environmental Justice Issues."
