A Black Lives Matter protest in Portland residential streets on Saturday night turned violent when alleged “counter-protestors” turned up to oppose the nightly protests that broke out following the death of George Floyd in late May.

In a video tweeted out by Daily Caller video journalist Jorge Ventura, one of the “counter-protesters” can be seen being assaulted by a group of Antifa militants, who spit on him, douse him with an unknown liquid, and hit him repeatedly with a baseball bat. At one point, the man is shoved to the ground.

The video shows rioters repeatedly screaming obscenities at the group of “counter-protestors.” No additional context was given as to how the altercation began.

In a tweet, Ventura wrote: “BLM supporter assaults counter-protester with baseball bat. Portland PD declare riot moments after.”

Ventura posted a second video with a black man who spoke to the white Black Lives Matter activist who was seen attacking alleged counter-protesters.

The black man is seen scolding the Black Lives Matter activist for his violent behavior, stating that his actions would lead to black people being blamed for the actions of rioters and that the narrative of the protests would change because of the violence.

Portland Police released a statementabout the rioters, whom they say chanted “kill a cop, save a life,” and “What do we want? Justice! When do we want it? Now! If we don't get it, burn it down!”

The police state that as the crowd grew, so did the violence.

At 11:17 pm, “officers reported having rocks, frozen eggs, glass bottles, and frozen water bottles thrown at them. Officers reported people were shining green lasers at them, which is against the law in Oregon. Somebody spray painted over a security camera on the Penumbra Kelly Building.”

The police also report that later that night, a large number of people acted violently and damaged property.

“The criminal behavior continued. At about 11:57 p.m., the crowd had engaged in violent, tumultuous conduct creating grave risk of causing public alarm for a sustained period of time; the crowd was rioting.”

At 12:30 am, rioters “began throwing rocks, glass bottles and other objects at police who were standing back in the parking lot.”

Some violent members of the mob reportedly sported “press” written on their outer garments as cover while they threw rocks and bottles at police officers and police vehicles. Some parked cars belonging to local residents were broken into.

As detailed by The Post Millennial editor-at-large Andy Ngo, who recently testified before Congress on Antifa violence, Antifa rioters who gathered in a formation crumbled following a charge by Portland Police.

“Antifa black block’s line formation instantly crumbles when Portland Police rush at them at the riot. Antifa have been attacking officers with rocks and other projectiles all night in SE Portland,” he wrote.
