Democrat Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez drew criticism this week for selling her merchandise at a high price. Many have since pointed out the irony of pricing a "Tax the rich" sweatshirt for $65 USD.

Since this became a hot topic on social media, AOC has discounted the price to $58 USD. The self described Democratic Socialism responded to the criticism on her Twitter.

“Republicans are freaking out bc [sic] we don’t use slave-wage labor for merch that funds grassroots organizing,” she wrote.

“But what’s the difference between Trump’s merch and ours? Ours is made in the US,” she added.

Excluding criticism, AOC was also the subject of humour as The Daily Wire (among other outlets) replicated the sweatshirt at a considerably cheaper price of $45 USD.

AOC's sweatshirt/entire merchandise selection is for sale as a campaign contribution. The website notes “Purchases are campaign contributions.” Some see this as somewhat preemptive as the Congresswoman already racked up $17.3 million in donations from her most recent election challenger.
