BBC airs documentary featuring four women accusing Jared Leto of sexual misconduct

Jared Leto has been accused of criminal sexual conduct by four women who allege the incidents occurred when they were teenagers, according to a new BBC documentary examining accusations against the actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman.

The BBC documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, features a total of 10 women who allege they had troubling encounters with Leto between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his 30s and 40s. Nine of the women are speaking publicly about their claims for the first time, according to Variety.

Of the four women alleging criminal sexual conduct, one woman alleges Leto assaulted her in a motel bathroom when she was 17. Another claims he threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19. A third woman alleges she had sex with Leto in California when she was 17, which she says was below the state’s age of consent. She claims Leto dismissed a conversation about the legal age of consent being 18. A fourth woman alleges Leto repeatedly made sexually explicit phone calls to her when she was 16 and suggested they should have sex. The BBC says it reviewed an NDA that the fourth woman was allegedly asked to sign, preventing her from discussing her relationship with Leto. She refused to sign it.

Leto has denied all allegations. “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life," he told Page Six.

Several other women featured in the documentary accuse Leto of making “strange and often very sexual” phone calls when they were younger. The BBC says it corroborated parts of the women’s accounts through interviews with friends and family members who were told about the alleged encounters at the time. The broadcaster also says it reviewed photographs and messages that supported some of the claims.

Two former employees connected to Leto’s band Thirty Seconds to Mars also appear in the documentary and allege staff members were uncomfortable with his interactions with teenage girls. They claim Leto would sometimes invite young women backstage or to private recording locations. “I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big,” one former associate said.

"These claims are absolutely and categorically false,” his representatives added in a statement. The accusations are not the first public allegations made against Leto. In 2025, Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz accused him of sexual misconduct, alleging he assaulted and traumatized her when she was 17. Other women later came forward with similar claims, which Leto denied. A 2025 report by Air Mail also detailed accusations from nine women alleging inappropriate behavior by Leto over multiple years.

Leto, 54, has not been charged with any crimes related to the allegations.
