President Joe Biden said in a press conference Friday that there is nothing that can be done to change the trajectory of the coronavirus in the coming months, despite campaigning on supposed plan to combat the virus.

"There is nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months," he said to reporters.

Many have pointed out that Biden campaigned on his plan to handle the coronavirus pandemic supposedly better than President Trump was doing, and that his comment of hopelessness is a contradiction to his earlier messaging.

Senior National Review Writer David Harsanyi said on Twitter that Biden's statement is "the opposite of Biden said his entire campaign."

Conservative personality Stephen Miller tweeted, "This is a sudden and pretty extraordinary quote from the guy who is pretty much only in office for promising to do exactly that."

Former Michigan Rep. Justin Amash further pointed out the contradiction, saying, "Haven’t we been told for months that restrictions and mandates were necessary to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months?"

Biden talked a big game on the campaign trail for how his administration would snuff out the coronavirus.

"We have to help the world to drive a coordinated global strategy," Biden said in a campaign speech.

Biden's website, joebiden.com, further hypes up Biden's plan to turn around the coronavirus pandemic, saying he will "spare no effort," to beat the virus.

"On Monday, I will name a group of leading scientists and experts as Transition Advisors to help take the Biden-Harris COVID plan and convert it into an action blueprint that starts on January 20th, 2021," it reads.

"That plan will be built on a bedrock of science. It will be constructed out of compassion, empathy, and concern. I will spare no effort — or commitment — to turn this pandemic around," it continues.
