"The school was placed on lockdown, and students were safely transported to Bulverde Middle School to be reunited with their parents," the sheriff's office said.
A Texas teacher was shot on Monday morning by a student at a Texas high school, with the student involved in the shooting dying at the scene, authorities said.
The Comal County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that a female teacher at Hill Country College Preparatory High School was shot on Monday morning by a student. She was taken to a San Antonio hospital and her condition is currently unknown.
The student involved, who authorities said was a 15-year-old male, died at the scene. Comal County spokesperson Cary Zayas said that the student died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"We know this is incredibly difficult to hear. What we can tell you is this situation is contained, and there is no ongoing threat to students," the sheriff’s office said. "The school was placed on lockdown, and students were safely transported to Bulverde Middle School to be reunited with their parents."
The school stated that at 8:34 am local time, the lockdown alarm was activated, with the building being declared secured a little over an hour later. The school said that students and staff were being bused to nearby Bulverde Middle School for pickup.
