Governor Ron DeSantis was slated to speak at New York's Jewish Leadership Conference on Sunday at Chelsea Piers, where he was met with protestors. This after an earlier venue had cancelled due to backlash against the sitting governor.

Freedomnews.tv posted video on Twitter of "activists & LGBTQ+ supporters" lined outside of Chelsea Piers in Manhattan to protest Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' appearance. DeSantis has been a friend and supporter of Israel.

The NYPD deployed their Strategic Response Group (SRG) which is a special unit of the NYPD dispatched to areas with civil unrest or acts of terrorism. The cacophonous activists could be heard yelling "bigot" and "terrorist" at attendees of the Conference.

While brandishing a sign that read "United Against Racism and Fascism" the protestors hurled racist insults such as "you're not Jewish" and demanded the police arrest the arriving attendees.

The protestors also defended Chelsea Piers' large homeless encampment by shouting "there’s homeless people here? What are you here for?"

Libs of Tik Tok posted Chelsea Piers' internal response to the conference and protests, which read "The Jewish Leadership Conference has chosen to schedule speakers who hold views and policies related to the LGBTQ+ community that are not shared by Chelsea Piers" and went on to divorce themselves from those who rent their Pier Sixty by writing "Pier Sixty does not manage or regulate the content of the events."

The conference moved to Pier Sixty of Chelsea Piers but was met with growing protest before Sunday.

On Friday Lindsay Boylan wrote on Twitter, "Nothing is more symptomatic of this era than taking ZERO responsibility. True garbage from my neighborhood partner."

Boylan unsuccessfully ran for Manhattan Borough President in 2021 and was an early accuser of former New York governor Andrew Cuomo over alleged sexual misconduct. Cuomo resigned, but all charges against him were dropped.

Boylan's Tweet was accompanied by a message to the public from Chelsea Piers which said that DeSantis' scheduled appearance was "causing distress," language which mirrored their internal messagin that DeSantis' appearance may "hurt" the LGBTQ+ community.

The Jewish Leadership Conference is organized annually by Elliott Abrams, the chairman of the organization, and Eric Cohen, CEO of the The Tikvah Fund which is an ideas institution committed to supporting the intellectual, religious, and political leaders of the Jewish people.

The event was originally slated to be held at NYC's Holocaust museum on June 12 but was disinvited because the conference wouldn't cancel Ron DeSantis from speaking.

At the time Abrams and Cohen said, "We were working closely with the museum on the details for the June 12 event—until, out of the blue, we were told by the museum staff that Mr. DeSantis didn’t 'align with the museum’s values and its message of inclusivity.' Either we disinvite the governor, they said, or our event was unwelcome."
