Ocasio-Cortez and Riley Roberts have not been seen on the Hill for ages.
Ocasio-Cortez and Riley Roberts have not been seen on the Hill for ages, according to the outlet, which confirmed that the couple is split up.
The news comes on the heels of Ocasio-Cortez announcing to the world that she was going to be freezing her eggs to "take [her] power back" under the Trump administration.
“Usually, I keep my private life quite private, but I have made the decision to start freezing my eggs, and I want to share that with anyone who is — and I want to share this because I was weighing it for a very long time, and I think that, you know, I was saving for it for a very long time, and there just isn’t a ton out there, I feel, and sometimes it can feel very daunting,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a post on her Instagram.
“And as women in general, we are not taught about our bodies, we are not prepared for our own lives, whether that is in puberty, whether that is in pregnancy, whether that is in perimenopause, menopause, whether that is in so many different aspects of our lives," she added in the video.
Ocasio-Cortez argued that women in politics face questions surrounding their age and if they plan on having babies in a way that men do not. “This is just not something that men deal with. Men run for office, or frankly, they interview for jobs and people don't think in the back of their mind, ‘OK this guy's running for office, how old is he? Oh, well is he gonna wanna start a family?’” she said. “This is a choice I am making to feel more in control of my life.”
She then shared a video of herself administering an injection as part of the process. Some have speculated that the move to freeze her eggs is in preparation for her to run for the presidency in 2028. In the Kalshi betting markets, Ocasio-Cortez is in second place behind California Governor Gavin Newsom as the politician that Americans believe will be the Democratic nominee for president in the next election cycle.
TMZ reported that is unclear when the lawmaker and Roberts split. However, Puck reporter Leigh Ann Caldwell said that her engagement was called off around 18 months ago.
Although not confirmation that they were still engaged, the lawmaker and Roberts were seen in a post from Black Iron Burger in Manhattan on May 4 earlier this year.
