"I was just fired by VHChealthcare after 13 years of employment as a registered nurse, with no severance, because I know that men are not women," Hamm posted.
Amy Eileen Hamm has been fired by Vancouver Coastal Health. This comes after the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives ruled that the registered nurse committed "unprofessional conduct" in her defense of women's rights, which the panel viewed as being "discriminatory and/or derogatory."
"I was just fired by VCHhealthcare after 13 years of employment as a registered nurse, with no severance, because I know that men are not women," Hamm posted. Late Thursday morning, Hamm said that she was "Heading into my latest struggle session in one hour. Please send your thoughts & prayers etc."
Earlier in March, the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives issued a ruling taking issue with three articles written by Hamm and one podcast appearance in which she identified herself as a nurse while making the "discriminatory and derogatory comments," saying that her comments reflected on the profession of nursing.
The legal saga began after Hamm co-sponsored a billboard in September 2020 expressing support for author JK Rowling, the famed British author who has spoken out extensively on protecting women’s spaces. The billboard was quickly removed after 30 hours after a Vancouver city councillor condemned it as transphobic and the advertising company pulled it.
A complaint was lodged against Hamm with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) claiming that she was transphobic and unfit for her profession, calling for Hamm to be removed from the profession.
