The case will now be overseen by Judge Jia Cobb, a Biden appointee.
A court has transferred the wrongful death suit filed by the family of Ashli Babbitt from her home jurisdiction of Southern California to Washington, DC, where she was killed by law enforcement while taking part in the riots at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
The Department of Justice's request to make the move was approved in April, and June 12, the case was transferred electronically to the District of Columbia. Two days later, all the relevant documents were received.
According to Justia, the case will now be overseen by Judge Jia Cobb, who was appointed to the bench in November 2021 by the Biden administration.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
