Before leaving the stage, Biden yelled out "I understand power."
Joe Biden took aim at 2024 GOP frontrunner and former President Donald Trump during a speech marking the anniversary of January 6, 2021 on Friday at Valley Forge, saying that Trump "doesn't understand the most fundamental truth about this country."
"All-out war is what Trump wants, that’s why he doesn't understand the most fundamental truth about this country. Unlike other nations on earth, America is not built on ethnicity, religion, geography, we’re the only nation in the history of the world built on an idea."
Biden said that Trump is "echoing the same exact language used in Nazi Germany. He probably posted on social media the words that best describe his 2024 campaign 'revenge,' 'power,' and 'dictatorship.'"
"There’s no confusion about who Trump is and what he intends to do."
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men and women are created equal. It’s an idea declared in the declaration," Biden said, adding that "we’ve never fully lived up to that, we have a long way to go. But we’ve never walked away from the idea."
"I will not let Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans force us to walk away now."
Biden called Trump the "election denier in chief," calling January 6 an "insurrection."
"The election deniers were defeated" in the 2022 midterm election, Biden said, adding that "Trump is running as the election denier in chief" in 2024.
"Not even a president is above the law."
Biden said, "Trump began his 2024 campaign by glorifying the failed violent insurrection on our Capitol. The guy who claims law and order, sows lawlessness and disorder. Trump’s not concerned about your future I promise you. Trump is now promising a full-scale campaign of revenge and retribution, his words, for some years to come. They were his words not mine."
Before leaving the stage, Biden yelled out "I understand power."
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
