The US has committed over $19 billion in weapons and aid to Ukraine since the attack by Russia on February 24. The aid package will be done via presidential drawdown authority, allowing the Pentagon to use its own stockpile of weapons to ship to Ukraine, reports AP.
200 generators, ammunition for both air defense and artillery systems, 150 heavy machine guns with thermal sights to shoot drones, 10,000 120mm mortar rounds, and 20 million rounds of small arms ammunition, among other items, are being sent, the Pentagon reportedly said on Tuesday.
"With Russia’s unrelenting and brutal missile and (drone) attacks on Ukrainian critical energy infrastructure, additional air defense capabilities remain an urgent priority," the Pentagon said in a statement, reports AP. "The additional munitions for NASAMS and heavy machine guns will help Ukraine counter these urgent threats."
According to CNN, the repeated sending of weapons to Ukraine from the US' own stockpiles is putting a strain on it.
The Biden regime is seeking to pass another $37 billion in military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine before Republicans take control of the House in January.
There have been growing calls from Republicans to look into the amount of US tax dollars being sent to Ukraine, including from Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who recently put forward a House resolution that would essentially audit every dollar given to Ukraine. "Basically, I'm demanding an audit of all US taxpayer dollars that have been given in any form to Ukraine. We're defending our nation's border, we want to understand how Americans' tax dollars are defending another nation's border," she said of the resolution.
