"Shooter is down."
On Sunday, Houston Police responded to a shooting near Joel Osteens Lakewood Church. "A child between the ages of 5 and 9 was shot at Lakewood Church on Sunday, according to Constable Alan Rosen," local news reports.
In a press conference, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner revealed that the shooter was a 30 to 35-year-old female, who entered the church with a long rifle and a trench coat, accompanied by a 4 to 5-year-old child.
HPD Chief Troy Finner said the female shooter is has been killed and that a 5-year-old child is in critical condition. A 57-year-old man was shot in the leg.
Finner noted that she told responding officers that she had a bomb, and "was spraying some type of substance." He added, "So we searched her vehicle, our bomb squad, and also the backpack. No explosives were found."
The shooter was taken down by an off-duty Houston police officer, and a TIBC agent.
The Houston Police said, "HPD is responding to reports of a shooting at 3700 Southwest Freeway. This is an on-going, active scene." It urged citizens to "please avoid the area."
Houston Sherrif Ed Gonzolez revealed, "shooter is down" He noted, " it does not appear that @HCSOTexas deputies fired shots; other agencies fired. We continue to assist in a methodical/thorough search of the complex."
Pastor Joel Osteen spoke out, saying "There are forces of evil, but the forces that are for us, the forces of God are stronger than that."
