Elliot Forhan, a Democrat candidate for Ohio attorney general, said President Trump should be executed through capital punishment. He made the comments in a video he posted to social media.

"Hi, this is Elliot Forhan, candidate for Ohio Attorney General. I want to tell you what I mean when I say that I am going to kill Donald Trump. I mean, I'm going to obtain a conviction rendered by a jury of his peers at a standard of proof beyond a reasonable doubt, based on evidence presented at a trial conducted in accordance with the requirements of due process, resulting in a sentence duly executed of capital punishment. That is what I mean when I say that I'm going to kill Donald Trump," he says in the video.

Forhan has made controversial public statements in the past, including a Facebook post attacking Charlie Kirk in the days following Kirk’s assassination. Five days after Kirk was killed while speaking at Utah Valley University, Forhan wrote a post reading “F*** Charlie Kirk,” later defending the language as intentional.

“I chose my words carefully, and I chose them to communicate my message forcefully,” Forhan said at the time, arguing that his post was aimed at what he described as efforts to “sanitize” Kirk’s legacy and punish workers who criticized him online. When asked whether the post reflected good manners, Forhan responded, “The truth is more important.”

Forhan later edited the post multiple times, eventually adding the line “Violence is wrong,” and said he made the changes after feedback from a fellow Democrat. On the day of Kirk’s killing, Forhan had posted a separate message on another platform stating, “Violence is wrong. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of Charlie Kirk.”
