On Wednesday, the Anti-Defamation League released a statement announcing that it would resume advertising on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. The ADL had recently accused X and its leadership of not doing enough to tackle anti-Semitism and other forms of discrimination on the site.

The move was celebrated by π• CEO Elon Musk, who thanked the non-profit for reversing its position and signaling to others that it was safe to advertise on the platform.

"Thank you for clarifying that you support advertising on 𝕏," Musk said in a post with a link to the ADL's statement.

"We appreciate 𝕏's stated intent over the last few weeks to address antisemitism and hate on the platform," the ADL wrote. "This has been useful; more needs to be done; and, as we have with other companies, in the spirit of collaboration, we are hopeful that we can continue to engage with π• on this important matter."

"To be clear, any allegation that ADL has somehow orchestrated a boycott of π• or caused billions of dollars of losses to the company or is 'pulling the strings' for other advertisers is false. Indeed, we ourselves were advertising on the platform until the anti-ADL attacks began a few weeks ago. We now are preparing to do so again to bring our important message on fighting hate to π• and its users."

The ADL went on to suggest that "a better, healthier, and safer π• would be a win for the world," adding, "we will credit π• as it moves in that direction, and we also will call it out when it has not."

Earlier this year, the ADL put pressure on advertisers to halt advertising on π•, and even urged leadership to ban popular anti-woke account Libs of TikTok, which is run by conservative Jewish woman Chaya Raichik.

Musk threatened to sue the non-profit in September, and insisted that they drop the A from their name, though nothing ever materialized.
