"We are asking for the public's help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University," the FBI said.
The agency urged the public to submit any information they have on the individual to 1-800-CALL-FBI or to use an online tip form.
Authorities in a press conference on Thursday said that the person of interest is of college age, and that the individual would have blended in well on UVU campus. Kirk was shot in the neck in the early afternoon, and authorities have said that they believe the shots were fired from a nearby building on campus.
Additionally, a weapon close to the shooting was found, and authorities believe it to be the firearm used to kill Kirk. Alongside the rife was ammo which had writings on them related to trans and Antifa ideologies.
Prior to the release of the photos, state and local authorities had taken two other people of interest into custody, both of whom were later released after being questioned by police and found not to be the shooter.
President Donald Trump announced Kirk's death on Wednesday a few hours after the incident took place, writing, "The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!"
Trump has announced that he will posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
